Mike Jennings is a UK & European patent attorney and a Partner at AA Thornton, one of the UK’s leading IP specialist firms. Mike spent half his career in industry, within IBM’s IP law department, and half in private practice. For the last 10 years, he has led AA Thornton’s electrical & ICT patent team, successfully handling a substantial computer-implemented inventions case load at both the EPO and UKIPO. Mike has been a member of CIPA’s Computer Technology Committee since 2006 and contributed to AIPPI’s international study on patenting computer-implemented inventions in 2017. He is an invited member of the Standing Advisory Committee before the EPO (SACEPO) international working group on quality for 2017-2020 and was invited to contribute to the EPO’s round table discussions on AI patenting in 2018.

Mike will be sharing knowledge and recommendations at the London IP Summit, including with reference to AI examples within the EPO’s revised examination guidelines that will be published on 1 October 2018.
